What is CCE?

WHAT IS CCE?

CCE stands for Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation it aims at the all round development of a child by continuous observation to see the growth and improvement done periodically. For effective and accurate assessment CCE has in duded different activities for both scholastic and co-scholastic. Where cognitive development is achieved through encouraging the child to strengthen his abilities and talent. This is an effective educational system where grades are used instead of marks.

It includes two types of evaluation:

1) SUMMATIVE OR TERM END ASSESSMENT:

This consists of the formal Pen and Paper kind of assessment held at the end of each term. Focusing on remembering understanding, application based questions like very short, and long.

2) FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT:

It includes different projects and activities along with questions on topics covered during that period.

How it is done:

CCE believes that learning process is the continuous process where development of a child takes place not only in class rooms through academics but also outside the classes through different games, activities, life skill activities and projects. Emphasis is laid on learning by doing or experiential learning and it is expected to prepare the students for life by making them physically fit, mentally alert, and emotionally balanced. It also equips the students with Life Skills such as Creative and Critical Thinking, Social Skills, Attitudes, Values, etc

IMPORTANCE OF CCE:

The performance of a child cannot be judged through one exam is process of learning is continuous. They are able to develop their aptitude as well as academic performance. Hence this system aims to see to the all – round or holistic development of the student. They also learn to work individually as well as in a group. It produces learners with greater skills

  1.  Elimination of chance element and subjectivity as far as possible, de- emphasis on memorization, encouraging comprehensive evaluation.
  2. Continuous evaluation spread over the total span of instructional time as an integral built in aspect of the total teaching learning process.
  3. Functional and meaningful declaration of results for effective use by teachers, students, parents and the society.
  4. The use of grades in place of marks in determining and declaring the level of pupil performance and proficiency.

It aims primarily to help learners for systematic learning and development.

IMPLEMENTATION OF CCE:

Though the implementation of CCE is a time consuming and tedious process for the teachers, the students stand to benefit a great deal. It allows flexibility on the part of the teacher to meet the demands of her students.

Weight age of marks is divided between Formative and Summative Assessments as shown below:
